Proper mounting of a research launcher is necessary to maintain precise alignment and aim of the launcher.
The longer launch tube lengths and high launch velocities of high performance research launchers makes proper support necessary for successful launches. Deviations in the straightness of a launch tube bore can subject the projectile package to unacceptably high lateral forces which could lead to a failed projectile and/or an errant trajectory. In addition to supporting the gun, a gun mount must dissipate gun recoil energy without affecting gun alignment or damaging hardware or the mounting surface (i.e. the floor). The gun mount is also a key item in the ease of handling of large heavy gun components.
Features/Options
- Reinforced structural beam construction for rigidity and stability.
- Recoil suppression systems to handle maximum recoil energy with minimim loads transmitted to mounting surface.
- Designs to accommodate large mounting surface variations (e.g. unprepared outdoor sites).
- Designs to simplify transportation within a building or to a remote site.
- Mounts capable of readily varying launcher elevation and angle.
