Hall Velocity Measurement Systems are the most reliable units for measuring projectile velocity ever developed. The system records silhouette images of projectiles as they pass two points spaced a known distance apart along their trajectories. Both images are recorded on the same strip of moving film so image displacement along the film can be related to elapsed time between the images. The “synchroballistic” camera arrangement used for projectile imaging assures that all objects traveling along the trajectory while the camera is in operation are recorded. Ability to recognize images of projectiles in flight assures that correct data is recorded. There is no chance of reporting velocities of the wrong object or failing to observe the right one.
